Have you ever met someone and as you hear them talk your heart is filled with joy. Its as if you knew this person for years. I had an encounter a few weeks ago on Easter Sunday.
I went to visit my family, an hour away from my home. We went to Mass at noon. After Mass, my mom had an invitation to a friend's home. I had never been at this lady's home. As I walked into the house, I felt welcomed. The living room was full with tables and people that were complete strangers. It was raining that day, so they were all gathered inside to keep warm.
I looked around at the walls and saw all the wonderful Catholic icons this lady was devoted to. One of the icons was the Sacred heart. My mom told me how its a traditional custom for this lady that at their wedding they choose a patron saint for their family. They chose the Sacred Heart and the Imacculate Heart of Mary. Each of their daughters were also consecrated to Sacred Heart of Jesus.
I then heard the story from the lady herself. As she talked, my heart was filled with joy. Later that week , I read in the gospel of Luke the story of the two disciples on their way to Emmaus. How they recognized Jesus as he broke bread, and how their hearts burned with joy as Jesus spoke to them about the scriptures.
This past Sunday, I was reminded again in the homily that we are able to recognize Jesus at the breaking of bread. But not just at Mass. We can also have an encounter with Jesus at any event were we have food. We are gathered with people and each time, we have the opportunity to help this people know Jesus. Or we recognize Jesus in them. Wow!
We do not need to be theologians to be able to take part in God's plan. All we need to do is to ask the guidance of Holy Spirit.
Today as I heard the audio devotional at Rezandovoy.org , the last words were, " you can be the bread for your brothers." I can help others to know God and he leads us to Jesus. I hope you see how much God loves you. He has a plan for you. You are special to him. Never feel worthless. You and I can do so much. God bless you.
